 Crimea! Crimea!
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 3:29 AM
Category: Jedi Knight

Here is a pretty cool looking amp for Jedi Academy that's called Crimea and is designed for Duel by -Alice-.
...For those of you who actually came back to the review, a basic rundown: this map is a two-arena ground that honestly keeps reminding me of some sort of temple proving grounds. Texturing and architecture here are just sublime, and the music makes me feel like hosting a tournament =_= ...hmm..
Grab that map off of Jedi Knight Files!

 Singularity Preview
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:13 AM
Category: Singularity

GameDaily put up a Singularity Preview and here is a snip:
Activision hopes you'll have time for its upcoming first-person shooter Singularity. Developed by Raven Software (Quake 4, Soldier of Fortune), the game puts you in the shoes of a nameless soldier who crash lands on a mysterious island called Katorga-12. It turns out that the Russians run experiments there, all of them somehow tied into the Cold War. When you wake up, you find a device strapped to your arm and receive a simple hint: "Don't fight it, use it."
So hit GameDaily and check out the Singularity Preview.

 New Hope - Station Archer
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 1:11 PM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

Here is an RPG map for Elite Force that is called New Hope - Station Archer that fred300 released.
This is the Station Archer from the "new" Terran Empire. The map is a Imperial Station based on Star Trek: New Hope - Station Modas. The Empire has stolen the planns of Station Modas from the Starfleet of the UFP in the Mirror-Universe. The Empire have reconstructed it, but they must improvise with the technology of their old ships, because they are not have all the resources and technologies as the UFP.
That map is available over on Elite Force Files.

Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 10:45 AM
Category: Jedi Knight

Over on Jedi Knight Files BormKloon released a Free For All map that is called Rusty Bucket Bay for Jedi Academy.
Ah, yes, behold =_= a duel map of villainous proportions. Gaze, and be afraid, of the mighty Rusty Bucket Bay, a downtrodden port town whose stench can imbibed for miles. In center of this port lies a large rustic vessel whose cargo is stlil being loaded and/or unloaded. The ship glares at you with a vile gaze, truly hellbent on castrating all who walk her decks...
That map is on Jedi Knight Files.

 Singularity Impressions And Screenshots
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 4:52 AM
Category: Singularity

I just spotted on The Feed that they posted thier Singularity Impressions w/New Screens!
The game's setting revolves around past and present conflicts with Russia. It's time mechanics will actually take players between present day (2010) and the 1950's. Singularity's main character, Nate Renko is an Air Force pilot that has crash landed on a mysterious Russian island. As he searches for his co-pilot, he begins to uncover some of the mysteries. Wait? Time travel... island? Is this a new LOST video game?
Go read those Singularity Impressions w/New Screens!

 Singularity First Look
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 1:12 PM
Category: Singularity

If you put a hit on IGN right in this particular spot you'll notice that they took a first look at Raven's Singularity.
You play Nate Ranco, an American test pilot who crashes on a Russian island where a science experiment gone wrong has resulted in a time anomaly that sees the island fluctuating between the realities of 1950 and 2010.
Go forth and hit that spot if you want to read more.

 Spotlight On Kenn Hoekstra
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:39 AM
Category: Raven Software

Over on Royal Purple they posted up an alumni spotlight on Kenn Hoekstra who as some of us know, used to work for Raven Software... Here is a snip:
Kenn: I started out as a level designer, which is essentially an environmental artist or 3-D architect. I've since moved into the project management side of things. In game development, "Producer" is another name for Project Manager. Basically, you plan out the project schedule, assign tasks to your team and make sure everyone completes them on time. You also interface with the publisher and make sure your company gets paid!

Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 12:31 PM

The file is called quake 4 militia rCon 1.7 (1.1.10) and is a mod for Quake 4, designed by port66 and what does this thing do? Here is the description:
Adds full mp vehicles, new fx/huds/ai/physics/weapon settings/3 mp gametypes, first person guided projectiles, mp nightmare/quakes etc fx. View frag winner/teambase at the end of mp games, mp player models each with theyre own lipsync voice taumts and pain and plenty more.
Yeah so that's it for the info and the screenshot combo over there on Quake 4 Files is too small to see squat on me widescreen...

 Wolverine: Origins TV Spot
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:04 AM
Category: X-Men

If you hit the Empire site they mentioned the fact that the Wolverine: Origins TV Spot Is Now Online and you can check that out if you go over there.
This one, entitled Outcasts, juxtaposes the adult Logan’s ordeal at the hands of the Weapon X programme – when his skeleton is laced with unbreakable adamantium, a procedure which looks as painful here as it did in X-Men 2 – with flashbacks to his childhood in the Victorian era, when a traumatic event shaped his destiny… forever (dum dum DAAAAAAA!).
So check out the Wolverine: Origins TV Spot.

 Council Building BB
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:39 AM
Category: Jedi Knight

Over on Jedi Knight Files Bayoon released a Free For All map that is called Council Building BB for Jedi Academy.
The brush-work on this map is detailed and simple at the same time. Something that can be rather difficult to do at times, so +1 to the Author for that. If a version 2 is made, I suggest adding a few more details, though.
That map is on Jedi Knight Files.

 X-Men Origins: Wolverine Movie Shots
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:25 AM
Category: X-Men

I was just on the Empire site and they have some new pics from the upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie.
Three new pics give further evidence that the long-awaited origin story is gonna knock our socks off. Explosiveness seems to be the order of the day, with Wolverine and Sabertooth going mano-a-mano (Jackman and Schreiber taking buff to the next level), and Taylor Kitsch springing into action as the kinetic mutant, Gambit.
Check out the X-Men Origins: Wolverine shots!

 Marilyn Has Nice Curves
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:58 AM
Category: Voyager: Elite Force

I see that Lt. Cmdr. Salinga/i> has released Marilyn (deathmatch level) for Elite Force.
This is quite an interesting map, especially for a game set in space. The map is set in a cavern with a sandstone-type rock appearance. The map which reminds me of one or two Halo maps is actually really cool with sprouts of foilage and vegetation though none of which provides adequate cover should your camping/sniping skills need testing.
So check out Marilyn!

Set in World War II, Wolfenstein stars series regular B.J. Blazkowicz, who must once again stop the Nazis from conquering the world with supernatural powers. An alternate dimension called the "Veil" will be involved, as will plenty of guns.

 Stonehenge Got Fixed
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 6:04 AM
Category: Soldier of Fortune

EEnomercy released a fixed version of his Stonehenge map that is made for Soldier of Fortune 2 or Gold.
This map is my first creation by the use of easygen. Its one large open map with some hills and stones. Al places are accessible. With in the center of the map Stonehenge. To my opinion one cool map for all the ones who love a sniperduel, but can be great fun with the close combat arms aswell. The map supports all most common gametypes.
That map is available over on Soffiles.

Star Wars Movie Duels 2 Demo
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 4:26 AM
Category: Jedi Knight

Wector released the Star Wars Movie Duels 2 - Demo for Jedi Academy.
This is just a demo of what is up and coming in Movie Duels 2.0. Obviously, it will be quite limited, but I think it's a good teaser of the mod to come. The main feature of this demo is Palpatine's Arrest, the duel between Mace Windu and Palpatine. You can play as either Mace Windu or Chancellor Palpatine.
Check out the Star Wars Movie Duels 2 - Demo... there's a lot more info over there so go read it.

 Wolverine and Wolfenstein Dual Shot
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 7:09 AM
Category: General

Over on The Feed they have impressions from Comic Con 2009 on both Wolfenstein and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Here is a snip from the Wolfenstein article:
The game once again pits you as American Army ranger BJ Blazkowicz against a whole passel of Nazis for some first-person shooter mayhem. This time around, major plot elements of sci-fi and occult black magic keep this game from reminding you of Call of Duty: World at War. “When you take into account the science fiction and the mysticism, calling Wolfenstein a good WWII game is like calling the original Indiana Jones a great WWII movie.”
Here is a snip from the Wolverine article:
Vondrak and the rest of the team at Raven threw the shiny-happy Wolvies of old that “punched” with his claws out the window. “We wanted to blow this game out, and make the best and most realistic Wolverine game to date. We wanted to put the Wolverine character in the real world, make it true and gritty. The blood, violence and brutality came with it.” Basically gamers will finally see what would happen if an army of men and the occasional mutant boss-character got in front of Wolverine’s claws. (They get cut into hamburger.)
So go check that stuff out!

Just noticed on Gaming Target that they posted up about the First Wolfenstein Trailer being Unveiled. Actually after typing this and then watching said trailer, we saw this before... heh. But I'm posting it anyways... maybe you haven't seen it yet. [edit] Dug up the trailer on gametrailers which is a bigger version... also they have the HD trailer so it's there if you want it. I find the videos on gametrailers to stream very smoothly! Adios amigos! I'm off to attack some food and do something creative. Have a nice day.

BuLLy released a Soldier of Fortune, multiplayer map that is called Kammy Underground.
Based on the ever popular map "Kammy", I have made a few changes and enhancements to hopefully enhance gameplay. The map is now spread over two levels with interconnection tunnels below ground joining either side of the bridge. Plus some secrets for you to find.
That map is available over on Soffiles.

 Wolfenstein Preview
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 2:32 PM
Category: Wolfenstein

If you put a hit on IGN right in this particular spot you can view a preview for Wolfenstein.
Wolfenstein is storming the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC "when it's done" and bringing with it all sorts of eerie powers, evil Nazis, and familiar plot points; a sequel to Return to Castle Wolfenstein, you pick up as Office of Secret Actions agent BJ Blazkowicz and get to killing some Nazis.
Check out that spot of Wolfenstein.

 Artus Base v1.2
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 1:49 PM
Category: Jedi Knight

programmer_beta released a multiplayer map called Artus Base v.1.2 for Jedi Outcast.
This map contains all the main areas you would expect of an Artus themed map. It has a rocky outside area surrounded by that green goo, a long tramline, which takes you all the way from one side of the map to the other along with a machinery room with pools of molten lava. It also has a control room, a detention area and of course, the mining tunnels let with that brilliant green light and scattered with crates full of Artusian Crystals.
That's all I know.... besides the fact that the map is available on Jedi Knight Files.

 Holy Bullshots Batman!
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 9:55 AM
Category: Wolfenstein

So I was minding my own business when I spotted this article: Activision Looking for “Bullshot” Artists and THEN was all 'what the hell is a bullshot' and then read more and was like 'that has to be the stupidest job in the whole game industry'... Holy batcrap, what the hell? Is this real?
In a job posting for “Art Services Screenshot Associate,” one of the listed duties is to perform “advanced retouching of screenshots and teach skills to others as needed.” You might want to cast a skeptical eye when images surface for the next Wolfenstein, Call of Duty and James Bond titles.
Geez, I'm off here. This is ridiculous! LOL.

 ShroomDuck Inc. Map Pack
Posted by Darren 'Doom Dude' Finch at 8:45 PM
Category: Jedi Knight

Over on Jedi Knight Files there's a ShroomDuck Inc. Map Pack that's up for grabs for Jedi Academy that contains 25 maps.
Man, this review was mostly done for me, and yet it still took over 2 hours to look over all this stuff. Whew...I hope this sees some massive use in the JK2 community. I would definitely think it would be openly welcomed. I'd like to apologize on behalf of the staff for this being so damnably late, but this is definitely one of those "better late than never" files!
There's a breakdown of the levels on the site, plus some screenshots, so go forth and check it out.
